Harrogate Town 2-2 Doncaster Rovers: 250 word match report

Pre-match there were two topics of conversation on the away terrace. One, the realisation that the twitter hashtag for the match was #hardon, the other a swell of optimism as Danny Schofield appeared to be absent. There was an audible dismay as he walked to the bench just before kick-off.

Harrogate started on top but Rovers grew into it and on 25 minutes a cheer went up accompanied by a chorus of ‘we’ve had a shot’. Two minutes later we had another and it was curled in by Aidan Barlow. He tried again a couple of minutes later but shot just wide.

In a dream start to the second half, Rovers scored again. Good work by Barlow and Kieran Agard led to a cross being pushed out as far as Luke Molyneux who smashed in through a crowd of players on the angle from around 12 yards.

On fifty minutes it was more like the Rovers of late with a slip in our area leading to a succession of scrambled shots, Harrogate finding a finish through Luke Armstrong.

When we concede one, another often follows, and on the hour Tom Eastman slotted a low drive in from the edge of the area. We had a lucky escape seconds later when Jonathan Mitchell was beaten, the Harrogate forward pulled the ball back for his team-mate to fire at goal but it was headed wide off the line. We held on for a point as Schofield was berated by the away following.
