Technology was supposed to make things easier, less stressful. Supposed to. I spent a good few hours this week printing out humorous Yorkshire dialect team descriptors of all the competing nations for our draw, cutting them out, setting up a make-shift filming rig to video the draw, videoing our two draws, downloading Ra-Ra-Rasputin to put over the top. And then just as I was putting it all online… the video files disappeared off into the irretrievable ether. And I had to start all over again.
So, alas there are no videos of our draws – you’ll just have to take my word for it that it was legit… like when the FA draw FA Cup Qualifying Rounds. But then we’re not in this for the technology, we’re in this to raise money. Thanks to many of you generously paying over the £3 entry fee, we have a whopping £263.50 to give away to charity from this sweepstake. And so with additional funds from the fanzine kitty we’re going to round that up to £300 for South Yorkshire Women’s Aid, Doncaster to support their valuable work supporting women in our town facing and escaping domestic violence.
As well as raising money, you’re hear to win it as well, so a reminder of the prize fund, which is distributed as follows for each of the two pots. If your team wins you get £20, if they finish second you’ll get £5; win the the third place play-off and you’ll get £4, whilst if your team finishes with the worst record of any country at the World Cup you’ll get your £3 back.

popular STAND World Cup 2018 sweepstake – Pot 2
Our second sweepstake pot contains people who are largely less known to the fanzine, though do be aware that if you do win, you will be somewhat obliged to take out a subscription for 2018-19.

Costa Rica: @yandergo

Huge thanks once again to all of you for entering this World Cup sweepstake and giving so generously. Remember you’ve all helped raise a great deal of money for a worthy cause so it doesn’t matter who wins. Just so long as its Uruguay.
