popular STAND fanzine issue 99

popular STAND fanzine issue 99 front cover

It’s been a long old month or so at Rovers; disappointing defeats, frustrating draws, injuries to key players. But just as you may’ve been about to lose hope Tuesday came with some welcome cheer. Yep, issue 99 of popular STAND fanzine had been successfully sent off to the printers. Oh, and Rovers beat Bristol Rovers 4-1. Again.

As welcome as James Coppinger’s name on a teamsheet, we have a brand new issue of the fanzine for you on Saturday and it’s a bit of a special one. As well as the usual quality writing from our regular correspondents, we also have something of an exclusive. A very special interview with Sean O’Driscoll – his first on Rovers since leaving the club.

Here’s what else is in popular STAND 99’s packed 40 pages.

What’s in it?

Inside this issue’s 40 packed fanzine pages you’ll find:

  • Editorial – we need to talk about racism
  • The Bernard Glover Diaries – an FA Cup run and hanging on to sixth
  • Remembering the First Time – Huddersfield Town, 1994
  • The Fan Panel – can we hang on to a play-off place?
  • Marshall Matters – getting distracted by possible play-offs
  • Bernard Glover’s Believe it or Not
  • Voice of the Pop Side – forgotten goalkeeper Jack Eggett
  • For Peat’s Sake – are Leeds really ‘The Damned United’?
  • The Big Interview: an exclusive chat with Sean O’Driscoll
  • Follows the Rovers – the reason for John Marquis frustrations
  • Howard’s Marks – can two clubs in one city work together?
  • From Beneath the Statue – contemplating alternatives to VAR
  • Lazarus Comes Forth – assessing Grant McCann
  • Jack the Miner’s Coal Face – Alfie May’s attempts to ‘bed in’
  • Gary Brabin Memorial Lounge – the Darren Moore the merrier
  • Spotted! – Rovers folk seen out and about
  • Windmills of Your Mind – a record-breaking cup season
  • The Striker’s Graveyard – Justin Jackson
  • Reg Ipsa – our legal expert takes a vague stab at your problems

Why should I buy it?

It’s double bloody award-winning! So something about it must be vaguely readable. On top of that you only need to pay £1 for it. It’s completely independent and written by fellow Rovers fans, for the enjoyment of other Rovers fans… like you. And, if that wasn’t enough, all profits go to local charities in Doncaster, meaning even if you hate the ‘zine, at the very least you’re supporting good causes in your town. So if you can pay more than that £1 please do, it’d be very welcome.
