Doncaster Rovers 0-2 Wycombe Wanderers: 250 word match report

Doncaster Rovers take a short corner in their League One victory over Wycombe Wanderers at Keepmoat Stadium

Rovers were brushed aside by Wycombe Wanderers 2-0 in a lacklustre display, arguably unworthy of the full 250 words of one of these match reports.

The visitors scored just two minutes in when Anthony Stewart outmuscled Kyle Knoyle to head in an early corner. Quarter of an hour later, all 17 stones Adebayo Akinfenwa shrugged off Ro-Shaun Williams to head in a second.

Doncaster never looked remotely like coming back and the loss left Rovers ensconced at the bottom of the table, raising questions for the manager and the board. Are we paying the price for hiring the popular kid as manager? Did Richie Wellens choose the right players? Is he getting the best out of the players he did choose? Could the exiled Omar Bogle really have not offered anything at all on Saturday? Has Tom Anderson recovered from the concussion he suffered last season at Fleetwood? Where are the Marquis millions buried? When is the cancelled Bolton match rescheduled for? Did the black turtleneck blazer combination debuted by Andy Butler on Sky Sports hasten his demise? Didn’t Madger Gomes have something going last season?

Matty Blair, Alfie May, and Andy Williams return to the Keepmoat next Saturday when Cheltenham come to town. We could do with some players like that.
