SAME OLD STORY FOR NEW-LOOK ROVERS
Like Doncaster Rovers circa 2016, the England cricket team of the 1990s boasted a Gooch and a Stewart in their ranks. They also often gave the impression that their team had been selected via the expedient of drawing names out of a hat. Rovers’ XI for the ‘must win’ game against Shrewsbury Town suggested some kind of random process at work.

Rovers went into this fixture low on confidence, in dire need of breaking their losing habit. Six minutes later, Paul Keegan delivered a perfectly weighted back-header into the path of Millwall’s Steve Morison, who deftly chipped Thorsten Stuckmann to put the visitors ahead. I’ve found it hard to write this editorial, and I think it’s ultimately because I’m so tired.
I’m physically tired because, as I write this sentence, it’s 1:40am Wednesday morning and this isn’t even the last thing I have to do for the fanzine before sending it to the printers, only after which can I go to bed. Ready to get up for work at 7am.
