Yeovil Town 0-3 Doncaster Rovers; 250 Word Match Report

Yeovil Town 1-0 Doncaster Rovers

It began in untypical opening day fashion with Rovers looking lively from the off. This attacking style was rewarded on eight minutes as Harry Forrester slotted Curtis Main through to coolly dink the ball over the onrushing keeper for 1-0.

Yeovil threatened with a number of dangerous balls into the box, but debutant Cedric Evina cleared effectively. Rovers had further great chances; Nathan Tyson had the opportunity to square to Main but overhit his pass, and used his pace to get clear again only to be pulled down by last man Jakub Sokolik, who was shown only a yellow.

The second half began with Yeovil looking the more dangerous, particularly down the left, but the crosses they managed were either caught by Jed Steer or headed away by Rob Jones. As petty fouls slowed the game down Rovers made it 2-0 on sixty-three minutes; Forrester sent clear over the top to round the keeper and place the ball over the top of the retreating defender.

Yeovil enjoyed the better of the play in the final twenty-five minutes, continuing to bombard the area with crosses and Rovers rode their luck when Town struck the crossbar with the follow-up sent over the crossbar. Rovers’ three substitutes performed well, with Kyle Bennett, Marc De Val and Theo Robinson all coming on. And in injury time De Val sent Robinson through to lob the keeper with ease. 3-0 to Rovers and game over.

Great win, and a great start to the season.
