Picture yourself in a seaside arcade. At the front are the grabbers, which snap frantically at thin air and seldom wield results. In the middle is the boxing machine that gets repeatedly thrashed and at the back are the coin pushing machines which always look like they’re going to pay out, but never do. I don’t think many Rovers fans went into Saturday’s fixture with any feelings other than dread. A side yet to get a point against a side with a 100% win record, it felt like a battering – with a John Marquis goal to rub salt in the wound – was an inevitability.
